Discord Font Generator

Discord renders whatever Unicode characters you send, which means you can style your nickname, server name and messages with letterforms that look nothing like the default. This generator turns plain text into those characters — no bot, no plugin, no Nitro subscription.

Every style below is a copy-and-paste job. Pick one, hit copy, and paste it into the nickname field or any message box. Because these are real Unicode characters rather than images, they render the same on desktop, mobile and the web client, and they survive being quoted or forwarded.

One caveat worth knowing up front: the message box sometimes shows what you are typing in Discord’s own font before you send it. That is Discord’s composer preview, not a problem with the text — send the message and the styled characters appear as intended.

    Scroll the list and find the look you want. Bold, italic and small caps stay readable at small sizes; the heavier decorative styles are better for headings and server names.

    Hit Copy next to any style, then paste with Ctrl+V on Windows or Cmd+V on Mac. For a nickname, open Server Settings, pick your profile, and paste into the nickname field.

Frequently asked questions

What font does Discord use for text?

Discord uses its own custom typeface called gg sans for the interface and for messages. There is no setting to change it, which is exactly why people paste Unicode characters that already look like a different typeface.

Can you use custom fonts in Discord?

Not through a font picker — Discord has no such setting. What you can do is paste characters from other Unicode blocks. They are ordinary text as far as Discord is concerned, but your device renders them in a different style.

Do styled fonts work in Discord usernames?

They work in display names and server nicknames, which is where most people use them. The unique username field is stricter and may reject or normalise unusual characters, so it is safest to leave that one plain.

Why does my text look normal while I am typing it?

Some Discord clients render the message composer with the default font regardless of what you paste. Send the message and the styled characters appear normally in the channel.

Is using styled text against Discord’s rules?

No. These are standard Unicode characters and Discord does not prohibit them. Heavily decorated text such as Zalgo can be hard to read and may irritate other members, so use it sparingly.
